Boys Prep Ice Hockey Post Win Over Somang Hockey Club in Outdoor Game

Caxys Win: 3.00 - 1.00
The Caxys ventured outside for its game against Somang Hockey Club (Canada) and ended up playing in a picturesque snow-filled game at the Lake Forest Winter. LFA ended up with a 3-1 win over the visitors from the Montreal area. Zach Houde ’26 got the scoring started for LFA in the first period before Somang matched the goal to tie the score. The score remained knotted until Andreas Churchill ’26 tallied the eventual game winner followed by Justin Ahern’s ’24 score added insurance off assists from Josh LaChapelle ’26 and Noah Houle ’24. Rowen Correia ’25 made 21 saves for the win.

After falling behind, the Caxys rallied with two third period goals, but couldn’t find the net for the third in a 3-2 loss against Bishop’s College. Seamus Keohane ’24 stopped 17 shots while David Keene ’24 and Noah Houle ’24 scored the goals.

LFA opened the MPHL Playoffs with a 6-2 win over King’s-Edgehill. Seamus Keohane ’24 totaled 14 saves while Brett Leslie ’25 had a pair of goals. David Keene ’24, Trevor Stewart ’25, Milo Daniel ’24, and Justin Ahern ’24 added single goals for the Caxys.

The LFA offense exploded in the second game at the MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase as the Caxys rolled to an 8-0 win over St. Edward (Ohio). The Caxys totaled 58 shots in the game while Josh Lachapelle ’26 and David Keene ’24 scored two goals apiece to lead the offense. Other goal scorers were Zach Houde ’26, Andreas Churchill ’26, Noah Houle ’24, and Brett Leslie ’25. Seamous Keohane ’24 and Aaron Ing ’25 split the game in goal and recorded the combined shutout.

The Caxys played two games in Trenton, Mich. at the MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase. In the first game, LFA defeated Clarkston (Mich.) by a score of 3-1. Goal scorers for the Caxys included Justin Ahern ’24, Zach Houde ’26, and Adrien Proulx ’24 while Seamous Keohane ’24 tallied 17 saves in the victory.

Caxys Lose: 2.00 - 4.00
LFA played its second game at the USA Hockey Arena and found themselves down 3-0 after the first period. The Caxys rallied with 31 shots in the second and third periods to just six for Detroit Catholic Central, but DCC’s goalie only allowed two goals. Justin Ahern ’24 scored late in the second period and was followed by Noah Houle ’24 with LFA’s second goal midway through the third period. As the Caxys were attempting to tie the game, Catholic Central scored an empty-net goal in the final seconds for the 4-2 final.

The Caxys posted a come-from-behind win in overtime by a score of 3-2 against Brother Rice. In the third period and trailing by a goal, LFA’s Trevor Stewart ’24 scored to send the game to overtime. In the extra period, John Greer ’24 stole the puck and went through Brother Rice’s defense to tally the winner for the Caxys. Landon Fraser ’25 scored the opening goal for LFA while Rowen Correia ’25 stopped 11 shots for the win.

The Caxys fell behind 3-0 midway through the second period before erupting with eight goals in a 8-5 decision over the Windy City Storm. Seven different players scored a goal for LFA led by two goals for Justin Ahern ’24. Other scorers included Brenden Johnson ’26, Milo Daniel ’24, Andreas Churchill ’26, Zach Houde ’26, Evan Stastny ’24, and Trevor Stewart ’24. Stewart’s goal was his 21st of the season to set a new season record at LFA for goals by a defenseman.

Seamus Keohane ’24 was in net for the win with 12 saves and Milo Daniel ’24 picked up the hat trick. The Caxys traveled to Windsor, Ont. to face off against MPHL rival Academie Ste-Cecile International School for two weekend games. The first game on Friday was played at the WFCU Centre that serves as home of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires. Rowen Correia ’25 stopped 18 of 19 shots on the way to the 6-1 victory. Trevor Stewart ’24 led the offense with a hat trick after three goals. David Keene ’24 tallied two goals and Josh Lachapelle ’26 added a goal for LFA.
