Girls Varsity Cross Country Places Fourth at ISL Championships

Caxys Lose: -
LFA hosted the ISL Championships as the varsity squad saw five of the seven runners set new 5k PRs. The Caxys were led by Maria Retelewski ’25 (seventh overall) and Andrea Fernandez ’25 (eighth). By placing in the top 10 both runners earned ISL All-Conference honors. The rest of the varsity saw Adriana Fernandez ’25 (18th), Marylou Marin ’27 (23rd), Lindsay Farbman ’26 (25th), Katie Martin ’25 (30th), and Amelia Sexton ’25 (35th) to help the team to a strong team finish.
The junior varsity race saw LFA finish third with Lily Botero ’25 (third overall), Dariana Yu ’24 (ninth), and Esther Park ’26 (12th) leading the way.

Girls Varsity Cross Country Competes at US Prep XC Classic

Caxys Lose: -
The Caxys traveled to Chicago’s lakefront for the US Prep XC Classic hosted by Latin in Lincoln Park. Maria Retelewski ’25 took 13th overall while Adriana Fernandez ’25 finished 19th. Rounding out the top seven were Lindsay Farbman ’26, Katie Martin ’25, Andrea Fernandez ’25, Amelia Sexton ’25, and Lily Botero ’25.
The JV runners took the course first and ran a two-mile race. Marylou Marin ’27 ran her best run of the season, taking third overall to win a medal. Dariana Yu ’24 and Ava Scharbo ’25 also led the Caxys.
The Frosh/Soph race also featured a two-mile course. Esther Park ’25 led LFA with a top 20 finish and was followed by Leyla Atcha ’27, Sadie Bruns ’27, Jennifer Ji ’26, Irene Kim ’27, Selah Omura ’26, Jamie Ryu ’26, Aadhira Thiru ’27, and Maya Tafolla ’27.

LFA finished fourth out of 10 teams at the 2023 LFA Invitational. St. Viator was first followed by Willows Academy, Regina Dominican, and LFA. The Caxys were led by Andrea Fernandez ’25 (10th overall), Adriana Fernandez ’25 (15th), Maria Retelewski ’25 (16th), Marylou Marin ’27 (19th), and Lindsay Farbman ’26 (21st).

The Caxys finished third in the LFA All Comers meet on LFA’s campus. The top five finishers for LFA included Andrea Fernandez ’25 (fifth overall), Adriana Fernandez ’25 (ninth), Lindsay Farbman ’26 (13th), Katie Martin ’25 (19th), and Marylou Marin ’27 (20th).

The Caxys hosted the first home meet of the season and finished third in the LFA Early Season. The 5k course through LFA's campus saw Adriana Fernandez ’25 finish fourth overall while Lindsay Farbman ’26 finished in 11th place. Other top finishers included Katie Martin ’25, Marylou Marin ’27, and Lily Botero ’25.

Girls Varsity Cross Country at Art Campbell Lake County Invitational

Caxys Lose: -
The girls' cross country team had illness and injury keep them from sending a full varsity squad to the Art Campbell Lake County Invitational, but three individual runners represented LFA. The Caxys were led by Adriana Fernandez ’25 who picked up right where she left off last year in running very well. Close on her heels was Lindsay Farbman ’26, who ran an excellent first race of her LFA cross country career. The third runner, in her first varsity race was Katie Martin ’25, who ran a personal best time for the three-mile distance.
