Girls Varsity Tennis Finishes Fourth at ISL Championships

Caxys Lose: -
The Caxys had a strong finish at the ISL Championships by medaling in three of the five positions and finishing fourth overall. Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 finished second at No. 1 doubles, losing a heart breaker to Latin in the finals. Camryn Farbman ’24 and Elise Brandt ’25 made it to the semifinals and finished fourth overall at No. 2 doubles. Dora Huang ’27 and Esti Rosenblatt ’24 finished third overall at No. 3 doubles and played some of their best tennis of the season. Sophia DeLise ’26 finished third overall at No. 2 singles to cap a very strong year of singles play. Tanya Ganesh ’24 played solid tennis at the No. 1 singles position and finished 2-2 on the day.

Caxys Win: 3.00 - 2.00
LFA traveled to Chicago and defeated Francis Parker by a score of 3-2 in a close match to finish the ISL regular season. Esti Rosenblatt ’24 and Dora Huang ’27 won the deciding match in a third set tie-breaker by a score of 11-9. They were down match point at 8-9 and rallied to secure the win for the Caxys. Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 won decisively at No. 1 doubles, as did Camryn Farbman ’24 and Elise Brandt ’25 at No. 2 doubles. Tanya Ganesh ’24 and Sophia DeLise ’26 competed well, but fell at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions.

Caxys Win: 5.00 - 1.00
The Caxys recorded a 5-1 win over visiting Woodlands Academy. Tanya Ganesh ’24 and Sophia DeLise ’26 swept the singles matches. Ganesh won, 6-2, 6-2, while DeLise won by scores of 6-0 and 6-3. LFA won three of the four doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 won, 6-0, 6-1, and No. 2 doubles Elise Brandt ’25 and Camryn Farbman ’24 recorded a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Theresa Fu ’24 and Esti Rosenblatt ’24 posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles while Carla Accogli ’24 and Daisy Zhang ’24 fell in their doubles match.

LFA posted a 6-0 win over Regina Dominican. Tanya Ganesh ’24 made quick work at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0, while Sophia DeLise ’26 had a convincing win, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. The Caxys also swept the doubles with No. 1 Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 winning, 6-4, 6-0, and No. 2 duo of Elise Brandt ’25 and Camryn Farbman ’24 recording a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Chloe Jhin ’25 and Theresa Fu ’24 posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles while Esti Rosenblatt ’24 and Dora Huang ’27 won at No. 4 and Carla Accogli ’24 and Chelsea Lu ’26 winning at No. 5 doubles. The No. 6 doubles match with Madison Rosen ’25 and Daisy Zhang ’24 didn’t finish due to rain.

The tennis team dropped a match at Latin by a score of 4-1. The No. 1 doubles duo of Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 tallied the point for LFA with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. The Caxys fell in the other two doubles matches and dropped both singles points.

LFA competed against the junior varsity from Stevenson and lost in a close match by a score of 4-3. Sophia DeLise ’26 posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles while Tanya Ganesh ’24 lost her match at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-4. Stevenson won three of the five doubles matches as the Caxys won at the No. 1 and No. 4 slots. Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 won, 7-6 , 6-4 at No. 1 while Carla Accogli ’24 and Theresa Fu ’24 earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Caxys Lose: 2.00 - 3.00
The Caxys lost a close match against University High by a score of 3-2. Tanya Ganesh ’24 and Sophia DeLise ’26 competed in singles matches. Ganesh dropped her match by a score of 8-2, and DeLise lost, 8-3.  convincing win, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. The Caxys tallied two points at No. 1 and 2 doubles. At No. 1, Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 posted an 8-1 win while Elise Brandt ’25 and Camryn Farbman ’24 recorded an 8-5 decision at No. 2 doubles. A tight match at No. 3 doubles decided the match with the University High duo outlasting LFA’s Esti Rosenblatt ’24 and Dora Huang ’27 by a score of 8-6.

The Caxys improved to 3-1 overall – 2-1 in the ISL – with a 3-2 win against Elgin Academy. Tanya Ganesh ’24 and Sophia DeLise ’26 faced strong opponents at No. 1 and 2 singles, both battling hard but ultimately losing in straight sets. Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 improved to 3-0 on the year at No. 1 doubles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Camryn Farbman ’24 and Elise Brandt ’25 demonstrated strong net skills in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

LFA competed well against North Shore Country Day, but came up just short in a 3-2 decision. Tanya Ganesh ’24 lost at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 3-6, while Sophia DeLise ’26 improved to 2-0 at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3. Natalie Frekko ’24 and Vicky Mesropyan ’24 improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Camryn Farbman ’24 and Elise Brandt ’25 lost a close three-set match at No. 2 doubles that went to a 10-6 score in the tie breaker. Theresa Fu ’24 and Dora Huang ’27 lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles, and Madison Rosen ’25 and Chelsea Lu ’26 faced a strong team at No. 4 doubles.

Elise Brandt ’25 and Dora Huang ’27 lost a close match at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-3, while Daisy Zhang ’24 and Theresa Fu ’24 lost a close three-set contest, 10-8, in the third set tiebreaker.

Caxys Win: 7.00 - 0.00
LFA Tennis competed in the first ISL conference match for the 2023 season and defeated Willows Academy by a score of 7-0. Team captain Tanya Ganesh ’24 won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Sophia DeLise ’26 came away with her first ISL singles victory, winning 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 position. Team captains Vicky Mesropyan ’24 and Natalie Frekko ’24 made their debut at the No. 1 doubles position, winning convincingly 6-0, 6-0. Camryn Farbman ’24 paired with Elise Brandt ’25 at No. 2 doubles, posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Dora Huang ’27 and Madison Rosen ’25 also had successful debuts, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Daisy Zhang ’24 and Chloe Jhin ’25 demonstrated excellent net play, defeating the No. 4 doubles team in an eight-game pro set. Carla Accogli ’24 and Chelsea Lu ’26 also showed strong skill with a convincing victory at No. 5 doubles.
Girls Varsity Tennis Opens Season at Saxon Invitational

Caxys Lose: -
The Caxy’s traveled to Schaumburg for an all-day tournament to start out the year that featured competition against Benet Academy, Conant, Crystal Lake South, Fenton, Hononegah, Rock Island Alleman and host Schaumburg. Madison Rosen ’25 and Chelsea Lu ’25 made their varsity debut at No. 3 doubles, finishing in fourth place. Esti Rosenblatt ’24 teamed with Dora Huang ’27 at No. 2 doubles and finished third overall, taking home a pair of bronze medals. Elise Brandt ’25 and Chloe Jhin ’25 played in the No. 1 doubles position. They improved with every match, finishing the day 2-1 and winning the consolation with a fifth-place finish. Vicky Mesropyan ’24 made her singles debut at No. 2 singles and had a very strong day, taking home a bronze medal with a third-place overall finish. Sophia DeLise ’26  lost in a close first round match to the eventual finalist, finishing the day at 1-2 at No. 1 singles.
