The Caxys wrapped up the 2023 season in a three-set match against Woodlands Academy that saw the visitors escape with a 2-1 decision. The final set went to the wire with Woodlands holding off LFA by a score of 25-23. Riley Mormon ’26 led the Caxys at the service line while the senior class of Gabi Stewart ’24, Kendall Scales ’24, Nalani Hill ’24, and Emma Berti ’24 played their final match in Glore Gymnasium.

The Caxys posted a 2-0 win over the visiting HRK Eagles at Glore Memorial Gymnasium. LFA posted a 25-17 win the first set before cruising to a second set win to clinch the match.

The Caxys won a tough match against Willows Academy on Senior Night. Prior to starting the match, LFA honored the senior class of Emma Berti ’24, Nalani Hill ’24, Kendall Scales ’24, and Gabi Stewart ’24. After dropping the first set, the Caxys rallied to take sets two and three for the victory. Lilla Szilvassy ’25 had four kills and no errors to help lead the team to the victory. Lola Tobin ’25 had great defense and chipped in two kills. In addition, all four seniors were able to play in the match and contribute to the win.

The Caxys took a tough loss at home against Francis Parker. The first set saw Francis Parker take a quick 5-0 lead before Gabi Stewart ’24 led the comeback for a 25-20 win for the Caxys in the first set. Stewart continued to lead LFA in the second set at the service line, but in a back-and-forth set, the visitors took a 25-22 decision. Another close set in the third frame finished in Francis Parker’s favor by a score of 25-20. Stewart finished the match with 10 aces from the service line along with a pair of kills and a block.

A packed and boisterous Glore Gym welcomed the volleyball team to its home opener as the Caxys swept Woodlands Academy by scores of 26-24 and 25-21. LFA found itself in a quick deficit before Kendall Scales ’24 helped change the momentum in our favor and maintained that influence throughout the entire evening. Scales totaled six serving points, one ace, two kills and one block while comitting zero errors in leading the Caxys to a tough 26-24 win. The second set was just as close as the first set with Riley Mormon ’26 coming up with some tough serves during key moments. She totaled three aces, three serving points, four assists and a kill. Lola Tobin ’25 was also tough at the service line with a pair of aces, six serving points, and a kill. Nalani Hill ’24 was on the attack today, with five attacks and a kill while Lilla Szilvassy ’25 finished the match with two attacks and one kill. 

The Caxys traveled to Latin for their second conference game of the season. LFA took an early 4-0 lead with Riley Mormon ’26 leading the quick start from the service line. Latin responded and claimed the first set before also winning the second set to conclude the match. Top contributors in the match were Chloe Cushman ’25, Gabi Stewart ’24 (two aces and two blocks), and Kendall Scales ’24 (two kills and two blocks).

The Caxys opened conference play with a 2-0 win at North Shore Country Day. Riley Mormon ’26 set the tone with some great serves to get LFA off to an early lead. The Caxys maintained their lead throughout the first set before the score settled at 25-15. North Shore Country Day took a 10-8 lead in the second set before a Caxy comeback saw LFA clinch the win with a 25-17 second set victory. Jolin Guo ’25 tallied four kills and three aces while Gabi Stewart ’24 added five blocks. Nalani Hill ’24 finished with three aces and Mormon totaled three aces, two kills and seven assists. Lola Tobin ’25 and Priya Johnson ’26 also turned in solid all-around performances.

The Caxys dropped a 2-0 decision at Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep by scores of 26-24 and 25-13. Kendall Scales ’24 totaled six kills while Riley Mormon ’26 added seven assists and two service aces.
