The final match for the Caxys at the U.S. High School Squash Championships placed LFA against Canisius (N.Y.). A back-and-forth match came down to the final point as the Caxys came up short by a score of 4-3. Hamza Jafri ’26 and Astin Choi ’27 completed impressive weekends individually as they both swept their opponents while Quinn Knight ’24 pulled a reverse sweep to win in five sets after falling behind 2-0 to start his match.

LFA’s second match was against a team from Fairfield, Conn. that saw the Caxys drop a close 4-3 decision. Caxy winners in the match included Hamza Jafri ’26 and Astin Choi ’27 sweeping their opponents with 3-0 scores and Davin Lee ’26 recording a 3-1 victory.

LFA opened play at the U.S. High School Squash Championships with a 5-2 win over Staples High School from Westport, Conn. The Caxys entered the tournament as the No. 10 seed and defeated the seventh seed. Hamza Jafri ’26, Astin Choi ’27, and Quinn Knight ’24 each posted 3-0 wins in their matches to lead LFA.

After a close win during the regular season over MetroSquash, Lake Forest Academy met the team again in the finals of the Chicagoland Metro Squash League Championships. After MetroSquash claimed wins in the second, third, and fourth slots, LFA went to work with wins in the lower half of the matches. LFA’s No. 1 Hamza Jafri ’26 posted a win in his match along with Davin Lee ’26 in his contest at nearly the same time to seal the 6-3 victory and title for the Caxys.

The Caxys handled Lake Forest by a score of 7-2 in the final tune up before the Chicagoland Metro Squash League Championships. Among the wins were Jaxon Kelly ’26 who defeated his opponent in a highly-contested, five-set decision. Parker Pollak ’26 won his match in straight sets.

LFA dropped a close match to visiting John Burroughs School from St. Louis. The early matches went back-and-forth with Quinn Knight ’24 posting a win and Max Bae ’26 winning his match in a five-set thriller. With the score tied at 6-6 going into the final round of matches, the visitors depth outlasted the Caxys for a 9-7 final score.

LFA avenged an earlier loss in the season to Lake Forest with a 7-2 victory at a lively Lake Forest Rec Center. The Caxys took wins in the top three slots and never looked back in the victory. Jaxon Kelly ’26 won his match in five sets while Charlie Griffiths ’24 claimed a win in the No. 4 spot and Quinn Knight ’24 took the point for LFA in the No. 5 slot. Parker Pollak ’26 also defeated his opponent by a score of 3-1.

LFA took four of the seven matches against MetroSquash. MetroSquash is a club team with a number of talented competitors. Astin Choi ’27 fought off his opponent’s match point to come back with a convincing fifth-set victory that ended up clinching the win for the Caxys.

Caxys Win: 11.00 - 2.00
LFA shook off the winter break rust with a strong performance against a healthy Latin program. There were a couple surprising losses early in the contests with Davin Lee ’26 dropping his first match of the year, but there were also dominant performances that helped keep the team energy going. Astin Choi ’27 won at No. 2 while Camryn Farbman ’24 increased her win streak to three matches, and Max Bae ’26 increased his win streak to four.

The Caxys faced a conglomerate of opponents from various schools and came away with a 6-3 victory. Max Bae ’26 claimed a five-set win in his match while Davin Lee ’26 won a close match. In addition to the varsity matches, the JV team defeated Latin, 4-2, in an exhibition match.
