Filipp Velgach is in his third year at Lake Forest Academy after seven years in Chicago’s high schools. His path to teaching included a brief detour in journalism and filmmaking. Fil is a graduate of Purdue University (Bachelor of Arts, Social Sciences) and Carnegie Mellon (Master of Arts, History). He currently teaches Ancient and Modern World History, and two semester-long Sports in America courses. His classes focus on detailing society’s capacity to grow through ingenuity and socio-philosophical movements, and challenge philosophies and actions that define the history of the human species. Fil coaches squash, and track and field. He lives off campus with his family.
