Biography:
Kyle Koncz returned to Lake Forest Academy in 2017 and is in his seventh year as Senior Assistant Dean of Admission. He also begins his first year in the role of Assistant Athletic Director. Additionally, Kyle also serves as the head coach of the varsity boys basketball team. Kyle has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Princeton University, where he was a member of the basketball program, co-captain of the team his senior year, and winner of the program’s B.F. Dunn Award after his junior and senior seasons, given to the player who contributed most to the sport through play, sportsmanship, and influence. Kyle earned his Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Ohio University in April 2023.
After graduating, he worked at LFA from July 2008 to June 2011 as a Psychology and Seminar Instructor, assistant basketball and cross country coach, co-director of Student Activities, and dorm parent. He left LFA to pursue his interest in coaching college basketball, serving as an assistant coach at Williams College and as Men's Basketball Director of Operations at Fairfield University. Kyle is one of Atlass Hall's co-dorm heads, where he lives with his wife, Ingrid Valdez.
Biography:
Matt Vaughn P’27 was hired at Lake Forest Academy in 1997 and is a member of the History and Social Sciences department, where he teaches AP Economics, Introductory Economics, and Entrepreneurship. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Trinity College (Conn.). He previously coached baseball and was the boys basketball head coach for 20 years. He also taught various mathematics courses and was a long standing member of the athletic department as an assistant athletic director. Currently, he is the varsity golf team assistant coach, an assistant varsity boys basketball coach, and he does dorm duty in Marshall Field House. Matt lives in Ferry Hall with his wife and fellow LFA teacher Suzy Vaughn and their daughter Clare.
Biography:
Ben Wetherbee joined the College Counseling Office in 2015. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Ben obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from Knox College, where he was also a two-sport athlete in basketball and golf. Ben spent three years in Knox’s admission office before transitioning to Lake Forest Academy, where he now serves as a college counselor, dorm parent in Atlass Hall, and head coach of the boys varsity golf team, and assistant coach with the varsity boys basketball program and. Ben completed his Master of Arts in Private School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College in the spring of 2023.
