Tameka Carter.


Head Coach

Biography:

Tameka Carter-Richardson teaches Spanish at Lake Forest Academy, as well as courses in the Global and Health, Wellness, & Community departments. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and political science from Stetson University, where she was also a member of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball team. While teaching in Spain, Tameka was recruited to play professional basketball for Caja Segovia in 2006. In 2009, she received her master’s degree in teaching from National Louis University and began her teaching career with Chicago Public Schools, where she was a Spanish teacher and World Language Department Chair. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Education at DePaul University and is the head coach of LFA’s varsity girls basketball team. She lives with her husband, Vernon, and son, Nehemiah.

David Atas.


Assistant Coach

Biography:

David Atas started working at Lake Forest Academy in 2014 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer and took on the Head Athletic Trainer position in 2015. David graduated from Illinois State University in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and a minor in coaching. In 2019, he received his Masters of Health Sciences with a specialization in athletic training from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Along with his certification in AT, David is also certified as a Golf Fitness Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), and is also Graston Technique certified. David oversees the health and safety of LFA student-athletes, both on and off the field. His duties include injury prevention, injury treatment and rehabilitation, and emergency care and first aid. He also helps out with freshman Health, Wellness, and Community classes, educating students about first aid and CPR. Additionally, he works as LFA’s yearbook supervisor and photographer for athletics. In the winter, he is the assistant coach for varsity girls basketball. David currently resides on campus in Weinbrenner House with his two dogs, Moose and Muggsy.
